Meant to post this about five days ago but didn’t because I kind of fell off the tumblr thing for a while there.
S. Prokofiev Flute Sonata in D Major, Op. 94 II. Scherzo. Allegretto Scherzando.
This piece clings to sanity like a piece of driftwood but its grip is weak and inevitably it falters. Moments of clarity are torn away with sudden violence as the madness returns.
Prokofiev treads between playful and sinister.
